Official Portraits from Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s Christening

Two months after his birth, The Duke & Duchess of Sussex held the christening of their son, Archie Harrison, in the Private Chappel of Windsor Castle. Following the service, the couple and their family took portraits in the Green Drawing Room (he same one where they had their wedding pictures taken). Among the guests are: The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Ms Doria Ragland (Meghan’s mother), Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes. Unfortunately, Queen Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinburgh were unable to attend, do to prior commitments.

@SussexRoyal – This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.

Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie.

Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue.

Inside Harry & Meghan’s Intimate Photocall with their son

Harper’s Bazaar is sharing some behind the scenes info on today’s lovely photocall at St. George’s Hall, Windsor Castle.

Before the world had seen his face or knew his name, Baby Sussex quickly became the most famous newborn on the planet. The son of the Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, and the first biracial baby born into the Windsor family, had quite the welcome party in Windsor after his arrival on May 6, with well-wishers filling the town’s streets and the world’s press camped out in eager anticipation of details about the newest member of the royal family.

And now, two days after his birth at Portland Hospital in central London, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry’s firstborn has made his global debut at Windsor Castle. During an intimate media call—just two photographers, one agency reporter, and three video cameras present—the Sussexes proudly shared a first look at their family of three.

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex walked into St. George’s Hall, where they celebrated their wedding reception nearly one year ago, camera shutters clicked away to capture the newborn royal, wrapped in the G.H. Hurt & Son shawl traditionally worn by royal babies (Prince George, Prince Charlotte, and Prince Louis all wore similar pieces for their debuts). Chris Allerton, the couple’s wedding party photographer, was there to take photos, which were later shared to the @sussexroyal Instagram account.

“This was a very special moment for the couple—one they won’t forget.”

After posing for photos, the Duchess got candid about the “magic” of motherhood, telling the cameras, “I have the two best guys in the world, and so I am really happy.” She noted her son has the “sweetest temperament.”

Prince Harry, his arms wrapped tightly around his son, looked on proudly. When asked who Baby Sussex looks like, he noted, “Everyone says babies change so much over two weeks, so we’re basically monitoring how this changing process happens over the next month, really. But his looks are changing every single day.” Meghan added that the family ran into the Duke of Edinburgh on their way to meet the cameras, but would soon be paying a visit to the queen.

“They are so proud but probably quite relieved to have gotten the photos out the way … They’re rather tired!”
