The Duke & Duchess of Sussex Visit Australia – Day 5: Sydney

The day has finally arrived, The Duke & Duchess of Sussex have launched the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney ! It is the 4th edition of the Games following London (2014), Orlando (2016) and Toronto (2017).

Their Royal Highnesses began the day by unveiling a new ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park. The memorial is to remember all the Commonwealth soldiers who lost their lives during World War I. The Duke & Duchess layed together a wreath at the bottom of the memorial and Harry unveiled a plaque. VIDEO


In the afternoon, Harry and Meghan attended the first trial of the Invictus Games, the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge. This trial is a test of skill and precision and is designed to test driving skills, navigational ability, observation and teamwork using Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. Two participants from each nation will be tested on a Jaguar course which will allow competitors to showcase both their speed and precision, as well as highlighting the agility and handling of the Jaguar vehicles.
The Duke & Duches handed out medals at the end to the French (gold), Australians (Silver) and British (Bronze). VIDEO


In the evening, the couple were invited to attend a reception celebrating the Invictus Games at Sydney Opera House right before the opening ceremony. The Duke of Sussex celebrated the warriors in attendance and delivered a very powerful speech. The Duke & Duchess sat next to the Governor-General of Australia Sir. Peter Cosgrove and Lieutenant General Peter Leahy AC. You can watch the entire ceremony here.
